Internationally acclaimed architect Benjamin Garcia Saxe redesigned The Gilded Iguana with co-owner Jeffery Grosshandler. The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel has 29 guest rooms as well as an on-site restaurant, outdoor pools and jacuzzi and kid’s pool, meeting and event space, hotel store, spa, surf school and surf club, and activity center. Gilded Iguana is a destination not only for avid surfers, but also for yogis, the wellness community and families.

Surf Club

The Surf Club is located in between The Gilded Iguana Hotel and Playa Guiones, one of the most consistent surf breaks in the world. Playa Guiones is the area’s most popular beach and a paradise for surfers of all levels. Guests both staying at the hotel or in Nosara can purchase a Surf Club daily, weekly, monthly, or yearly membership and enjoy full access to over 150 surfboards, SUP’s, boogie boards, skim boards as well as amenities at the Surf Club including the locker room, showers, surf lounge, and juice bar. In addition, Surf Club members can enjoy discounts on surf lessons, the juice bar, the restaurant at Gilded Iguana, purchases at the Iguana Shop, treatments at the Gilded Iguana spa, and mountain bike rentals/tours.

Activities

Gilded Iguana offers week-long surf camps with ISA-certified surf coaches who work with surfers of all levels from beginner to expert. The all-inclusive Surf Camp includes accommodations at the Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel, daily surf lessons, video analysis reports, surf theory, a full Surf Club membership and more.

In addition to surfing, Gilded Iguana also offers mountain biking. The Mountain Biking Center is the only place in Nosara where travelers can rent or repair equipment. Visitors can book guided tours or simply rent equipment to enjoy the mountains of Costa Rica’s tropical coastline.

The Gilded Iguana Surf Hotel also offers yoga, fitness classes and weekly live music.

Shopping

The Gilded Iguana’s new Surf Shop sells a full range of long and short boards as well as high quality gear from top brands. Equipment for all ages and experience levels is also available to rent from the shop. The Surf Shop offers surf, yoga and activewear. The Gilded Iguana also houses the Iguana Shop, a lifestyle resort boutique on property with a curated fashion collection as well as local, artisan-made crafts.
