The Island House– The Stylish Getaway on Nassau

Nassau, Bahamas (January 2020) — The Island House, located on New Providence, only five minutes from the Nassau airport, is an award-winning boutique hotel in Lyford Cay. The Island House experience marries contemporary luxury with the understated elegance of island life. With exquisite design by Champalimaud and highlighting Bahamian artists throughout, The Island House stands out among Bahamian resorts, having been designed with both visitors and the local community in mind. Located on ten landscaped acres, the resort features 30 spacious rooms and poolside suites, exclusive private beach access, and six rental apartments.

The brainchild of Island House is director Lauren Holowesko, a fifth-generation Bahamian, and her father Mark Holowesko. The goal of the hotel is to be a destination for locals as well as to offer travelers a personalized Bahamas experience with exclusive programming, unique to an independent and locally owned resort. The hotel embodies the spirit of the island and offers celebrated food, esteemed local art, and a focus on well-being.

“In all things, we want The Island House to remain true to its Bahamian roots,” said Director Lauren Holowesko. “We were born and raised here, and we want to use our local knowledge to showcase another side of paradise, especially to guests who may associate The Bahamas with large mainstream resorts.”

Each space within The Island House is designed by New York-based luxury design firm Champalimaud. With an emphasis on creating warm spaces indicative of the region, the firm fashioned a relaxed interior with bespoke furnishings complemented by contemporary Bahamian art to evoke a chic and tranquil sanctuary. The design focuses on quality of the guests’ experience, reflecting The Island House’s ethos: offering a welcoming space that captures the local spirit.
